1.  Where’s my Federal Refund?

3. I need to change my withholding – what to do?
Complete Form W-4 so that your employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay. Consider completing a new Form W-4 each year and when your personal or financial situation changes.

5.  I don’t have my W2’s – how can I obtain a copy?
You can call the IRS to obtain W2’s (transcripts) for past years (800) 829-1040.  For the current year the IRS will not provide a copy until later in the year, for faster service contact your employer.

6.  If I am not an employee, but receive cash for my services/products do I need to report this?
Yes, you must file if net earnings from self-employment are at least $400.  Examples of self-employment are: babysitting, yard maintenance, housekeeping, etc.

7. Am I an employee or self-employed?
You generally are not an employee unless you are subject to the will and control of the person who employs you as to what you are to do and how you are to do it.

8.  I recently purchased a house, what do I need to bring?
You should receive a form 1098 Mortgage Interest Statement from your bank, property taxes you paid, vehicle registration, if you made donations bring in the receipt, medical expenses.
